SAW passive wireless temperature on-line monitoring system is developed to meet the temperature measurement requirements of electric power equipment (such as electric switchgear, cable joint and so on). The product uses a passive wireless temperature sensing technology - surface acoustic wave (SAW) temperature sensing technology. The sensor has the advantages of completely passive (no battery) and wireless reading. It effectively solves the problems of high insulation level, high temperature resistance and convenient maintenance for power equipment.
This product consists of a temperature reader, a reading antenna and a sensor. The reader is the core temperature of the system, it can sweep signal of sensor and electromagnetic emission return signal receiving, analysis and identification, and the temperature information is uploaded to the monitoring display terminal through the industrial bus; read channel antenna is the electromagnetic signal transmission; sensor front-end system work, it is responsible for the sweep signal a reader will receive real-time temperature signal acquisition to return to the reader.

Surface-acoustic waves (SAWs) are sound waves that travel parallel to the surface of an elastic material, with their displacement amplitude decaying into the material so that they are confined to within roughly one wavelength of the surface.
In a piezoelectric material such as gallium arsenide or quartz, the mechanical deformation associated with the SAW produces electric fields. To a good approximation, the electric fields do not affect the propagation of the mechanical wave, so the result is a variation in electrostatic potential that travels along with the SAW. Any thin layers of surface metal or conductive regions in the material affect the electrostatic potential variation around them, but the mechanical SAW propagates largely unaffected.
